Wendy Calhoun, Peabody Award-Winning TV Producer

Wendy Calhoun, the daughter of Hall of Famer Marilyn Calhoun, has carved out an extraordinary path as a Peabody award-winning television writer and producer. Renowned for her work on acclaimed series such as Fox’s Empire, The Rookie Feds, Prodigal Son, Station 19, Revenge, Nashville, and Justified, Calhoun continues to push creative boundaries. She is currently developing It Takes a Woman, a gripping family drama in partnership with DeVon Franklin, CBS Studios, and Netflix.
Beyond her impressive portfolio, Wendy’s influence extends into advocacy and leadership. She co-chairs the Alliance of Regenerative Medicine’s Sickle Cell Disease Gene Therapy Hollywood Think Tank and frequently moderates panels for The Sloan Foundation. Her commitment to promoting gender equality in media is reflected in her role on the Board of Directors for the Geena Davis Institute, and she nurtures emerging talent as a creative advisor for Film Independent’s Global Media Makers and the FX Imaginar TV Incubator.
Calhoun is a highly sought-after speaker whose insights bridge the worlds of entertainment, science, and social change. On November 7, 2025, she was invited to speak at Harvard Medical School’s Department of Genetics Conference, serving on the Storyteller Panel alongside the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. There, she discussed “The power of stories and portrayals in television and film,” emphasizing how media narratives shape public perceptions and drive scientific engagement. Earlier, on September 24, Wendy served as Creative Facilitator for the Clinton Global Initiative’s “Taking Action Together” conference in New York. She led a storytelling workshop for attendees—including global leaders and change-makers. Each September, CGI brings together established and emerging global leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
Wendy’s passion for mentoring and industry engagement shines through her participation at the Austin Film Festival (AFF). This year, she has been judging digital shorts finalists in both screenwriting and filmmaking remotely, before attending the festival in person in October. Wendy is an honored NYU Tisch School of the Arts School of Film and Television alumnus.
