Began his teaching career in Bremond, Texas. His first teaching assignment in Dallas ISD was at G.W. Carver. Served as Principal of N. W.Harllee, Director of System-Wide Testing and Director-Principal of the Lincoln High School Renewal Project, Visiting Professor at Bishop College, Prairie View A&M, and University of Dallas. DISD School named in his honor.
