Dean Hill Inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Show Band Association

AAEAHP Hall of Famer (2023) Dean Hill was recently inducted into the National Show Band Association’s prestigious Hall of Fame. This recognition took place during this year’s Regional Superior High School Battle of the Bands, held at DeSoto High School Stadium on November 8. Standing among peers and students, Hill was presented with a plaque commemorating this milestone—an acknowledgement of his dedication and contributions to the show band movement.

The National Showband Association (NSBA) stands as a committed organization focused on the preservation and advancement of show-style marching bands. Through hosting events such as competitions, awarding scholarships, and organizing conferences, the NSBA provides invaluable opportunities for growth and connection among high school and college bands. Serving as a professional marching association, it unites both competitive and non-competitive bands across the nation, striving to establish a benchmark of excellence. Additionally, the NSBA supports students with resources for college applications and recruitment, helping pave the way for future success.

Hill stated that as a band director, he has had the privilege of guiding bands through numerous NSBA events held in cities and states like Houston, Atlanta, Florida, and Washington, D.C. Each competition has offered unique experiences and fostered camaraderie among students and directors alike. These events not only challenge our musical abilities but also create lasting memories and connections within the show band community, he said.
